Lord Korpus has now reached a point in his training where we start to require more impulsion and much more hind leg action!
Since the trot is well, we require that of the canter.
This means that we are doing many tempo changes, and constantly focus on the hindquarters are not flat!
We lift the hindquarters up, by using the whip just a bit. While we find our inner leg slightly back and sit down firmly in the saddle.
So we get the 'uphill' effect we are looking for!
Sometimes we can get a little too much hind action, but remember never punish if this happens.
We ask for hind legs activity, and at first this will be the reaction and it's okay, because that is exactly what we seek.
Eventually the horse will understand just lifting the hind legs up, one by one ...
Good Canter Training Everyone!
